Last year (2022) was one of our busiest with 44 callouts attended during 2022. New Year is done and so our call-out numbers are reset!

Callouts 1 and 2 for 2023 have occurred already over the past two days.

(1) On Monday afternoon the team was called out to a walker who had fallen on Ben Lui and suffered a serious injury. Given the nature of the incident, we requested support from our friends at Rescue 199 🚁, and we made contact with our neighbours at Oban Mountain Rescue Team and asked them to be on standby in case we needed extra support. Thankfully, the crew of Rescue 199 were able to fly into where the casualty was and they were airlifted directly to hospital. We wish the casualty a speedy recovery.

(2) Our second callout came in yesterday morning to Ben Ledi in relation to a walker who was lost and needed assistance. The team was able to make use of PhoneFind to identify where the walker was and members made their way to the location and assisted the walker off the hill.

The pictures show the general reality of Mountain Rescue. Quite often miserable conditions, then the aftermath of trying to dry the kit ready for the next shout!
