Our 35th and 36th call outs of the year were on the West Highland Way after being alerted by Police Scotland.

On Thursday night our team was deployed to look for an overdue walker on the north side of Loch lomond who had become separated from their party, which is easily done in that area given the awkward terrain. The walker was thankfully found safe by other walkers who escorted them along the route to meet the team, who stood down shortly after.

And who says luck doesn’t strike twice? the team were called out a few hours later to assist an injured walker again on the West Highland Way, not far from the Falls of Falloch. We were able to administer some immediate first aid and assisted the injured person back to awaiting Scottish Ambulance Service ambulance again at the same location as the night before. We also bumped into the person from the previous night as well, hopefully enjoying a less eventful day.

As #mountainrescuers we often, if not always work in collaboration with partner agencies to make sure those who need help get it as quickly as possible. We also appreciate the support and assistance we get from members of the public and their kindness when supporting other outdoor people who need help. But as the nights draw in & temperatures drop, we need you to help us by ensuring you are kitted and equipped for conditions & to stay safe if you happen to encounter a problem.
